The team of nine volunteers from the U.S. plus five from Honduras included dentists, dental hygienists, doctors and others. The primary focus of the trip was to assess the new dental clinic and to make any adjustments found necessary. In addition, the team provided dental treatment to approximately 100 patients, many of whom were students. The El Rosario Clinic Committee hosted a surprise dedication ceremony for the new clinic and named it the “Dr. Bob Smile Clinic” honoring ACTS team member Bob Keene who has led the effort to bring the clinic to life. One team member initiated and led a demonstration project designed to reduce gastrointestinal illness by proper hand washing and other means. The team also worked on improvements to the clinic building and grounds, delivered much-needed firefighting equipment to Yoro.
