December 2016 – Engineers Without Borders
ACTS’ longtime partner, Engineers Without Borders USA at Northeastern University traveled in December 2016 to continue assessment of the water distribution system in the communities of Ocotal and Los Potrerillos. The organization had previously traveled in August 2015 to begin initial assessment, but more data was required to complete a preliminary design. The December 2016 team of five collected topographic survey and GPS data to develop elevation profiles and maps of the community and proposed system. The team also visited El Carrizalito and Los Planes to follow up on punch list construction items. EWB-USA NEU will look to move towards a design and begin implementation by 2018.
