April 2015
A team of ten volunteers with diverse backgrounds recently returned from a successful trip to Honduras. The main focus of this trip was to continue developing the dental clinic and foster relationships with our contacts in the dental community of Honduras. A large portion of time was spent focused on acquiring equipment for the newly constructed dental facility and identifying a functional layout to place the furniture and equipment.
In addition to the dental focus, a subset of the group worked with educators from 11 nearby communities to conduct a training with the recently installed educational wireless network and laptops in the education center. A similar educational network was also installed in the medical center with content in both English and Spanish.
The medical clinic was also open for patient appointments and a number of house visits. In addition to the human patients, there were a variety of pet and livestock check-ups performed by our volunteer veterinarian.
