March, 2014
This trip included members of the ACTS Steering Committee and students and alums of Dartmouth, in a collaboration between ACTS and the Dartmouth Alumni and Students for Honduras (DASH) organization. It focused on a combination of medical issues, La Fuerza projects in the El Rosario community, and ACTS organizational tasks. The logistics of the trip unfolded smoothly; the highlights of the trip featured the following:
A successful effort at composing a genome map and obtaining buccal swabs from the residents of Los Planes, where a medical issue has been endemic.
The purchase of a parcel of land for Chica’s future residence and the confirmation that the banking transfer process works appropriately.
The completion of a very effective La Fuerza program that included the drawing and painting of a vivid and immediately popular map of the world in the Education Center, as well as work in one of the village schools.
